What is Lizard City?
Okay, you might be thinking to yourself- “This place has all the trappings of a video game… the characters, the levels, the ill-advised marketing campaigns and hotline answering service… but… where’s the game?? Am I missing something?” Lizard City is what happens when you quarantine an artist in a 400 square foot loft apartment for a year or two during a global pandemic.
Lizard City is a multi year passion project inspired by the era of 3D platformer games from the 2000’s. It’s not a real game, or at least not a playable 3D platformer as the screenshots would have you believe. My background as an artist comes is eclectic and nerdy, and I made this project to explore the kind of art that I enjoy doing. You can explore bits of the world here as I try to sort through my hard drive and export web-ready images of every level. The project has seen many iterations and as I’ve amassed a collection of doodles and renders and models and writings, I’ve settled on calling it a Strategy Guide without a game.
